Runner Info
Location
The run & walk starts and finishes at the property of Marlan Wilbanks located at 860 Old Chimney Mountain Road in unincorporated Batesville (Clarkesville Georgia) in northern Habersham County. Batesville is noted for its gentle mountainous terrain and fertile river valleys that give the area its unique beauty. The start and finish line and registration area will be staged on the scenic banks of the Left Fork Soque River where it meets the Right Fork Soque River to form the headwaters for the renowned Soque River, one of the premier trout streams in the southeast.
Main Event
The race & walk is 6 kilometers (3.75 miles), along with a one mile “fun run” immediately preceding the main event. The run qualifies for credits in the Run and See Georgia Grand Prix Series and computerized race results will be available at the finish line. The route is mostly gentle and rolling terrain on paved and gravel roads that meanders through the Soque and Goshen Valleys, and along the headwaters of the Soque River.
Time
Registration begins a 7:30 AM. One mile fun run begins at 8:30 AM. 6K Run & Walk begins at 9:00 AM.
Awards
Award categories are for male and female winners in age groups from 10 and under up to 75 and over. Top three male and female runners in the one mile will also receive awards.
Benefit
Proceeds will directly benefit the Batesville Community Association and the Soque River Watershed Association.
T-shirts
Quality long-sleeve T-shirts will be given to all pre-registered participants. A limited number of T-shirts will be available for those who register the day of the race.
Race packets
All entrants will receive a race packet that will be filled with sponsor information and “goodies”.
Refreshments
All race entrants, volunteers, and sponsors will be provided with various foods (fruit, water, muffins, coffee, etc.) at the race site.
Other Events
Plan to stay in Batesville after the event and visit the annual Batesville Days Festival being held this year at the site of the Batesville General Store located on the corner of State Hwy. 197 North & State Hwy. 255 North.
